Mary - Born September 25, 1904, in Newport News, Virginia, Mary was the second born of eight children of Franklin Edward Neagle and Ella Nora Whitlow, of Irish and German descent. She was baptised at Saint Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of two weeks. Her parents returned to Richmond, Virginia when she was two years of age. She started school at the age of six at Saint Patrick's Catholic all girl school and graduated in 1922. Mary married Orin L. Lien Dec. 26, 1933 in Richmond Virginia. (from a letter Mary Frances Neagle Lien sent to a relative in Feb. 1978 for a family genealogy book)

Obituary and additional information provided by Joe Neagle: Richmond Times-Dispatch or the Richmond News-Leader. “Lien Chief Warrent Officer, Orin L. Lien, U.S. Navy retired, died March 4, 1984 of 2307 Poates Dr. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mary Neagle Lien; one brother, John Lien, Detroit Lakes Minnesota; two sisters, Frances Lien Enoch, Tocoma, Washington, Esther Lien Enders, of Libby, Montana; nieces and nephews. His remains rest at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home, 3rd and Marshall Sts., where a Christian Wake Service will be held Monday (today) at 7 P.M. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Tuesday 11 A.M. Interment Oakwood. Mr. Lien was a member of Fleet Reserve Association, Our Lady of Lourdes and Belmonth Senior Citizens, retired club of Federal Reserve Bank. If desired, contributions may be sent to Little Sisters of Poor or above church."

This typewritten note was with the obituary. The last line, "Fed. Reserve Bank", was handwritten. This probably came to the funeral home with flowers, just a guess.: "We extend our sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Federal Reserve retiree Orin L. Lien who died March 4, 1984. Mr. Lien was employed at the bank on October 2, 1951 as a Day Guard in the Protection Department. He continued in that position until his retirement on September 1, 1965. Following his retirement, Mr. Lien worked for the Bank as a Currency Verification Clerk on a short-term part-time basis from May to July 1970. Fed. Reserve Bank"

Orin was buried in Oakwood Cemetery. His wife Mary had him re-interred at Mount Cavalry Cemetery, also in Richmond, where they are buried together.

Orin Lester Lien was Married to Mary Frances Neagle. Orin Lester Lien was born August 1, 1900 in Fillmore County, Minnesota, near the town of Prosper. He was the sixth born of nine children to John Syversen Lien and Maria Hanson Lien, all of Norwegian descent, all ancestors from the area of Heidal, Vågå, Oppland, Norway. Baptised in 1905 at the Methodist church, Orin started school in Alexandria, Douglas County, Minnesota in 1906. Orin joined the United States Navy in 1918 and retired with thirty years of service in 1951. He joined the Saint Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church in 1934. Orin died of a stroke on March 4, 1984.
